Terms & Conditions
Description - AlumniInTouch.com is a networking website ("the AWS website")
provided by Alumni Web Services ("AWS") for alumni of companies
and organizations ("Employers"). The site contains Contact-specific
communities where current and former employees (or students or members) can register, provided that they are over 18 years of age. Unless
otherwise indicated, AWS is not affiliated in any way with any Employer or sponsoring organization.
Certain areas are secured and only registered users with a valid
password may access them. Employer specific information in the Career Center is
accessible to registered Employers. Those registered on the AWS website agree to forward
information on this site only to affiliated employees, alumni or current or
potential Employers.
Privacy Commitment - AWS is committed to protecting the
privacy of our users. We want to provide a safe, secure user experience.
We will use our best efforts to ensure that the information you
submit to us remains private, and is used only for the purposes
as set forth herein. To fulfill our commitment to you, we have adopted
the following policies:
Registering members must provide Email addresses of at least
two individuals who can verify membership eligibility. The references can be current or former employees, or two associates aware of individual's association with the community.
References will only be asked to verify eligibility if there
is some question concerning membership. Typically, references are a valuable resource should the joining member forget to update contact details and thereby loses touch. AWS would then contact one or both references to reconnect the member. AWS may also invite the given
references to become members.
If you
are unable to provide reference Email addresses, you
may email info@AlumniInTouch.com
with the names of your references, the location where you worked,
the dates of your employment, dates of study, or involvement in the relevant organization, and any contact information (e.g.,
telephone/fax number, mailing address) of the references.
If your
Email address should change, you must access your member profile
and update the address to ensure that only authorized users have
knowledge of the password. Each member is responsible for maintaining
the accuracy of his password, and for protecting its security
outside the AWS website. Under no circumstances
will AWS be responsible for any damage, injury, or loss of any
kind arising from or related to unauthorized use of a member's
password where AWS did not cause that unauthorized use.
Members
of other alumni communities only have access to the content of
your community if they have registered to join your community.
AWS will
not sell, lease, or otherwise distribute information on a member
to third parties without that member's permission.
The AWS website
is not intended for use as a mass mailing list. Member emails are accessible one at a time or in small groups through the My Contacts facility.
AWS reserves
the right to change the site's search capabilities, features and terms and conditions at any time,
without prior notice.
We gather
and retain information about members in order to determine which
features of the site are most beneficial for our users, and to
help us understand how we can create a better member experience.
For example, we are interested in measuring the areas visited
most frequently and what services are accessed most often.
Content & Monitoring - To enrich
the Alumni In Touch community, we may keep track of member activity
during visits, and we require that such activity does not misuse the site. In support of this:
We do not disclose information about your individual
visits to the AWS website. We do not disclose personal information
that you provide, such as your name, address, email address, telephone
number, etc., to any outside parties, except with your permission
or as required by law.
AWS reserves the right to inspect all traffic on the AWS website, but does not routinely monitor traffic. At our absolute discretion, we will remove/alter any emails/messages/site content which we consider unacceptable. AWS will not be responsible for any damage,
injury, harm, or loss of any kind arising out of the authorized
or legally required disclosure of information to third parties.
You may not create any emails/messages/site content which could be illegal or harmful/offensive to others. You may not use the site to transmit any unsolicited advertising, "junk mail", "spam", or "chain letters". In case of any doubt, advice may be sought from legal@AlumniInTouch.com
Resumes/CVs - the AWS website includes a career center, which
offers you the option of putting your resume in our database. There
are two ways of doing this:
You may
store your resume in our database, but not allow it to be searchable.
Not allowing your resume to be searchable means that you can use
it to apply for a job online, but recruiters will not be able
to search for it through our resume database product.
You can
store it in our database and allow it to be searchable. If you
allow your resume to be searchable, then all recruiters with access
to our resume database product will have access to your resume.
We use our best efforts to grant access to this database only
to legitimate recruiters, hiring managers, headhunters, and human
resource professionals. However, we are not responsible if some
other third party, such as someone posing as the aforementioned,
evades security measures and gains access to the database, and,
subsequently, your resume.
You may remove your resume from our searchable database at any
time. However, recruiters may have previously retained a copy of
your resume in their own files or databases. AWS is not responsible
for the retention, or use, of resumes by third parties in these
instances.
Limitation of Liability - While AWS attempts
to ensure the eligibility of its members and recruiters prior to
their access, AWS makes no guarantees to the accuracy
or the validity of the information posted by its members or recruiters
on the AWS website. Under no circumstances will AWS be responsible
for any damage, injury, harm, or loss arising out of or related
in any way to any information or advertising posted on the AWS website by members,
recruiters, employers, or any other party.
Advertising - AWS uses various methods of online
advertising including but not limited to banner advertisements.
These advertisements may be targeted towards a group of individuals
based on user-entered information such as, but not limited to, employment
status and employer or organizational affiliation. AWS will not provide information about any
individual user to any advertiser. AWS may, however, provide aggregate
usage and demographic data to advertisers to understand viewing
totals. AWS is not responsible or liable for the accuracy of advertising statements.
Membership - AWS reserves the right to modify,
remove or refuse membership at its discretion.
Newsletter and Communications - AWS produces an electronic newsletter and other electronic communications
which are distributed via the AWS website.
Upon registering, you will automatically be subscribed to the electronic newsletter mailing list.
You can unsubscribe at any time. The electronic newsletter and other electronic mailings will be a public feature.
However, links to the password protected areas of the AWS website will only be accessible with a user name and password.
Those electing to receive the electronic newsletter will also be included in other electronic mailings from time to time.
These may be commercial solicitations, employment opportunities from client companies or other electronic mailings which AWS deems appropriate.
Administrators - An eligible member
of an alumni community can register voluntarily to serve as an Administrator
for that community, including sending alumni community newsletters,
monitoring discussion boards and answering alumni
community members' questions. Administrators have access to the same information
within the community as do other members plus member phone numbers
as entered. AWS reserves the right to remove any Administrator at
any time without reason. Registering as an Administrator does not
create nor will it be deemed to create any employment relationship
with AWS, either as an employee, an agent or an independent contractor.
Administrators serve without any compensation or promise of compensation.
Employers - Employers and third party employment recruiters
may register on the AWS website to post job openings and view
resumes of members. Registered Employers can access
these two functions of the career center with a username and password.
They do not have access to the alumni communities unless they have
registered separately as a member of a particular alumni community.
AWS does not proof job postings or resumes for accuracy. Contacting
alumni and verifying resume details is the sole responsibility of
the Employer.
Premium Membership - Membership to the basic services of
the AWS website is free. AWS has the right to offer premium membership services, at a charge. All sales are final. The terms and
conditions of premium membership services are contained in the Premium
Membership Agreement. All enquiries about this should be directed to legal@AlumniInTouch.com
Copyright - All content on the AWS website
is copyrighted by AWS and remains the exclusive property of AWS.
All information placed on the AWS website by members and Employers
becomes the property of AWS. If you believe that your work has been copied and is accessible through the site in a way that constitutes copyright infringement, advice may be sought from legal@AlumniInTouch.com
Service Marks - Alumni In Touch, Who's Doing What? and Reunion
Hall are all service marks of AWS.
