FAQ

Obtaining a copy of the e-newsletter.

Alumni members and persons eligible to post jobs can subscribe to the newsletter. There is a box to check in the membership form. Select update your membership and check the box to automatically receive newsletter issues.

I registered, but the site won't accept my user name or password.

Ensure cookies are enabled. User names and passwords are not case sensitive. Click to log in, and request your user name and password on the log-in page.

I log in with the correct user name and password, and I keep getting sent back to the home page. Why is that?

Maybe your cookies are disabled in the browser. If they are disabled then the code can't create a session for you. If there is no session then the member pages redirect people back to the home page. This is to prevent people from getting in without a user name or password.

Deleting a duplicate registration.

If you are unsure of your ID and password for each of your membership profiles, click on Forgot your ID and password? The system will then email your ID and password to the email address given. If you do a search on your name, and you have the same email address for the duplicate accounts, it will email one set of Ids and passwords at a time. Delete the first account, and then repeat the process. You will then be emailed your second account ID and password.

Forgotten user name and/or password.

On the home page, click on Current Member? Log in Here! The next screen will have a Member Sign-In box. Click on Forgot your login Name or Password? Your ID and password will be emailed to you.

Changing membership profile, i.e. email address.

Each alumnus has access to his or her membership information. Click on update your information. Make any changes to your personal profile in the membership information. It will then update the newsletter email list and other areas of the database.

References: I don't know 2 email addresses of former or current employees.

Send an email to the Webmaster. Please be sure to include employment dates, job location, and the names of 2 persons with whom you worked.

The Technology

The Alumni In Touch website utilises graphics, frames and java script to enable you to more easily navigate the information. The Alumni In Touch website is best viewed using Netscape Navigator 3 and above or Microsoft Internet Explorer 4 and above.

Better Browsing

This site has been optimised for a modern browser. To get the most out of the site, you should view it using the latest copy of either Microsoft Internet Explorer ( v4 or greater ), or Netscape Navigator ( v3 or greater). Your screen resolution is best set on 800 x 600 pixels, 16 bit colour or above.

If you would like to check your screen resolution or colour depth, or even change them, the principle is the same on most desktop computers. For users of Windows 95, you need to open your 'control panel' by clicking your 'Start' button -> then clicking 'Settings' -> then 'Control Panel' Once you are in the Control Panel, you can double click the 'Display' icon. If you now click the 'Settings' tab, you will see that you can change your screen resolution & colour depth.

Other popular desktop computers such as the Apple Macintosh have different methods of changing colours and screen resolution. The best way to go about changing your settings is to first consult the help feature of your computer.
